The Earth Repair Foundation (ERF) and the Environment Program of United Nations Association of Australia (NSW) Inc, are lobbying for world-wide endorsement and implementation of the Earth Repair Charter Global Solution Strategy.
The Charter motivates the progressive transformation of all global military services into helping people all over the world to grow permaculture style food forests everywhere possible, on the basis that ‘what is now proven was once only imagined’.
The project is represented by the emblem showing a rifle’s transformation into an abundant food tree. The design is a modern interpretation of the ancient quote: “... and nations shall beat their swords into plowshares and spears into pruning hooks ... and neither shall they learn war any more”. Isaiah See the image at www.earthrepair.net
Remembering that we are all here on Earth now together with the rest of humanity, orbiting the Sun, part of the Solar System in the Milky Way Galaxy in the infinite universe, it is obvious and clear that now is the time to make war a thing of the past.
The motivation behind the project is: Every hour throughout the world, over 1600 people, most of them children, die from hunger and poverty-related diseases, and millions of others struggle to survive without life’s basic necessities of clean water, food, shelter and health care, while, the current global military budget is costing the world approximately US$160 million every hour and increasing. Further, global warming and climate changes are causing ecological disasters in many areas requiring concentrated assistance. Hopefully, solving this world-wide environmental eco-crisis, will unite humanity in a common, productive and peaceful purpose
The goal is: to successfully lobby every nation to progressively transform their military spending, resources, and expertise, into constructive and productive community advancement industries, including adopting Permaculture* as one of the world’s most necessary and honourable employment activities.
If the majority of people of all nations seek formal training in and utilise Permaculture, these benefits would occur.
• many jobs would be made available in composting and making soils, gathering seeds, propagating and nurturing seedlings, planting and protecting trees using rock mulch, and harvesting water for effective irrigation;
• increasing quantities of appropriate mixed-species trees would be companion planted and grown to help repair the earth and the atmosphere, and improve global climate stability; and
• an abundance of organic edible plants and living foods would be readily available for everybody.
* Permaculture is an Australian innovation of permanent, sustainable, organic agriculture which includes the companion planting of mixed- species trees, including fruit and nut trees with under-storeys of vegetables, herbs and medicinal plants, using minimum-maintenance and maximum-yield principles. (see Permaculture on Google).
“If we give some food away it nurtures others for a day. If many learn to grow their own, end world hunger seeds are sown”. Permaculture Wisdom
“Planting and growing increasing quantities of trees is the scientific solution to Earth’s environmental dilemma”. Dr Richard St Barbe Baker, Founder, Men of the Trees.
Background: UNAA was a primary catalyst in helping establish the highly acclaimed Australian Year of the Tree, l981-82. This started Greening Australia in l982-83 which then seeded Australia’s National Tree Program. (It is estimated that between 700 and 800 million trees have been planted in Australia since then and the accumulation of bio-mass and the global impact, is incalculable).
Further, UNAA and ERF played a key role in popularising composting in Australia with the campaign ‘What The World Needs Now Is A Sense of Humus’.
People can support the project by buying T-Shirts or Seed Stickers or making a donation.
